My Colt 1911 (JUN 1918) has a FOIA history record which includes the The Center of Military History Museum at both Fort Belvoir and Anniston. Would I be mistaken if I associate my CMP pistol as one that came through the Army museum system which is often referenced in this forum? If so, why would so many pistols be retain for museums? Also, the recent video post of the CMP tour by the GCA recorded a number of older nice 1911's.

nice background on your pistol............

I bought my ITHACA M1911A1 22 years or so back, at a gun show....I wouldn't dare do a FOIA on that, it'll probably come up;

October 29, 1991 - reported stolen from Ft. XXXXX

Where did you send your FOIA request? I am looking for Remington Rands serial Number 1298523
Which was my issued Pistol, as a member of the 298th M.P. Detachment, located at Hunter Army Airfield, located in Savanna Georgia, circa 1981...

God Bless...
