Solid copper bullets? Aren't those pricey compared to copper plated lead bullets?

You can directly buy it from Federal (when it's available), although you may find it at your LGS for less money.

BTW: our local Scheels store had Federal Gold Medal Match 308 (168 gr. SMK) for $27; Federal lists it on their website for $37. Three points: 1) I assume Scheels got it as part of an existing contract (i.e., price fixed awhile back) and 2) the claim that Federal hasn't raised their prices is bogus 3) Kudos to Scheels for not jacking-up prices!

I was quite surprised and happy that Cabelas prices their ammo at pre pandemic levels. Problem is they donít know when the truck is coming or what will be on it. So, twenty to thirty people line up before opening every morning just for the chance that they will have ammo!!

Just heard on the radio that Michigan police departments are running low on ammo. They attribute this to the new pistol buyers and factories shutting down due to Covid.
One department has canceled biannual handgun qualifications for lack of ammo. One Chief was told to order ahead as the shortage was expected to be felt for years..... Can't imagine Michigan is the only state.

^^ No need for any de-fund initiatives when they are short of ammo in the first place.

When demand outstrips short term supply, you can make the supply demand curves meet by increasing the price or by letting the market increase the inconvenience of buying it.

Cabelas might be selling 9mm at 30 cents a round, but if scalpers can sell it for $.80, they will buy it up for resale. We might be better off if Cabelas sold it for $.50. The scalpers might decide the margin isnít worth the hassle and there would be some on the shelves.

Cabelas doesnít want to ******** off long term customers and I can see that logic, but donít judge others who raised prices too harshly. Underpricing the market just creates an extra tier of middlemen.

Last week, I stopped at the Fort Mill, SC Cabela's store about a half hour after they opened. They were already out of pistol ammo and almost out of rifle ammo. One of the workers said that there were about 100 people waiting in line before the store opened that morning! They did have some shotgun ammo though (7 1/2 shot and 00 buckshot).

I know a dealer who has birddogs grabbing all the ammo they can buy. They sell it to him and he sells in his shop. Bad times for all of us.

Default Reloading - Where to find powder?

I would love to continue reloading during this ammo crisis. I have primers, cases and bullets - just no powder!

I haven't been able to find my usual Garand 30.06 powders (W748, IMR-4895, H-4895) anywhere locally or on-line for over a year and a half.

Help!
