Default WTK _ Stamped serial number

WTK

On my CMP Colt, the serial number is hard stamped and not exactly even on the frame. Compared to the clean and almost cursive style(rolled) serial numbers I see on models in the same serial number range. Any reason for this?

Mine is serial # 796XXX

Any info would be appreciated, thanks.

There was a war on...

New guy on the stamping machine?

I've seen similarly rough serial number stampings on M1 Carbines.

Yeah, just noticed serial numbers prior to and after had the cleaner rolled numbers. Does not bother me, makes it more unique to me. Was just curious.... Thanks
