I received the call on Friday and answered. A few minutes after hanging up I got an email with the instructions on how to have my FFL contact the CMP. It is my assumption that I would have gotten an email asking me to call them if I had not answered their call on Friday.

My RGN was 21035 and I selected service grade. I was told it will ship today.

Because they need to speak with you.
Will you email the payment to them?
They have several questions, and probably expect you will have some as well.
Email is a great thing. It is not everything.

ZvenoMan,
Thank you for the response. I should have made my question more clear. My reference to receiving an email from the CMP was to complement a missed call or voice mail. Not the mechanism by which to place the order.

But, thank you again for your points.

Will

Just got the call today, so my guess was off by only two weeks! All grades offered, I chose Service Grade. Was thinking about a Field Grade, but was very happy with the Service Grade M1903 and M1 Garand I had gotten in the past.

Who said they don't?
My understanding is that if they can't get you on the phone they send an email.
I answered the phone so can't confirm first hand.

They have a bunch of 1911s they need to get rid of.
They know those who sent them packets have money to give them.
They will find a way to strike a deal.

Good copy. Made sense to go back and read the instructions. Per the CMP's 1911 page, their policy is:
"Our staff will attempt to contact you by the telephone number listed in your packet, if unable to contact you, they will leave a message if your mailbox is set up or not full. The call will come from a 256 area code. If we do not hear back, you will be sent an email to the email address in your packet giving you 5 business days to respond."

The post I tagged my original question to, read that no call from the CMP was received and a check in call to CMP was made, finding out they only had five days to spare before their order would have been canceled. No mention of receiving an email, but that does mean that the CMP didn't attempt. Certainly, their policy states that they will try and email if you don't respond to a voicemail.

I'm seeing as high as 20,972 and as low as 20,106 so we're oddly sandwiched in the middle. Hopefully today
