Default ww2 carbine escutcheon nut brass

Is it possible that any of the ww2 escutcheon nuts were brass?
I have a pic of the one thats original to my rifle and it looks like it could be brass
I know all the ones ive seen are steel but has anyone seen brass?
Trying to find a new photo posting software
In the meantime, here is the one i have

Don't think brass was ever used, the original drawing says steel. Yours is probably just yellowed from many coats of RLO. Put a magnet on it.

Yeah i didnt think about the raw LO staining the bolt golden
Those threads are showing steel.
