Default Remington Rand M1911A1 (Serial # 2437850)

My son, Corey, received this SG '45 Remington Rand M1911A1 from CMP 1911 on 05/04/21.

It's reparkerized, has a TYPE 2, 1st VARIATION trigger (used by RR circa 916,405 - 930,000), & a post-WW2 government contract barrel (NP on left lug, M on right lug, .45 Auto/7791193/90 on the chamber hood)....but otherwise, it's correct throughout.

Very nice, the serial number puts it in the range of the final production run. The service grade RR I received looks just as nice and also a replacement barrel. We both received great pistols!

It's only 27,289 from the end of line (2465139)...so I'm guessin' it originally went out the door in mid-June of '45 (or thereabouts).

Sounds similar to one I got, but had the correct trigger. In the same serial range and got the same barrel in mine also. Were his grips original or contract replacements?

Arrived with one Keyes Fibre Type 2 stock & one Coltwood Type 2 stock.

Replaced 'em with a matching set of Keyes Fibre Type 2 stocks (as pictured).

My RR #2168746 left the factory in February of 1945, has a matching slide and frame, looks as good as the pistol your son received. I have a question regarding what appears to be an X stamped on the trigger guard, right side near the mag catch, do you know anything about this marking?

The X is an In Process Inspector's Stamp (same as the 3 on the right side of the trigger guard & the O on the left side)

"Beginning shortly after (Remington Rand) 1300000, various numbers and/or letters were stamped on the sides of the trigger guard to signify factory inspections." CLAWSON (3rd Edition), Page 61
