Default Finally got the Correct stock for my post war 6 mil

Found a proper great condition post war Springfield stock to make my 6.09x Garand a proper Correct version. Everything else was previously correct except the stock (it was a good condition HRA). Thank you everyone for your knowledge and help in identifying what I had and what to look for.

My rifle required only a decent stock to be correct. The barrel measured right at 2.5 at the throat and slightly less than 1.5 at the muzzle. Crown is nice and clean. How does it shoot??? Well, the gas cylinder was not a tight fit, so I did a little fiddling. I shoved a business card in-between the cylinder and barrel. I then wrapped a couple of rubber bands around the cylinder/barrel to make sure the business card remained in place. The stock is a nice tight fit. At the range the rifle would stay under 3 inches using some Greek HXP that I had on hand. This was firing 2/8 for a total of 10 shot groups from a sandbag rest w/ a sling. The county is about to open a public shooting range (Oh Boy!!!). When that is up and running, I intend to take this rifle out for some more shooting. I have since removed the original gas cylinder and installed a saw cut gas cylinder. That allows a good tight fit w/o the card shim and rubber bands. I want to try some handloads and see what works best. We'll see. Sincerely. bruce.

This is kind of funny to me. The 6M I received from the CMP several years ago when they offered a bunch of them via mail order, also showed up virtually all-correct with the exception of being in a beautiful HRA stock.

Yes, I did eventually swap it for a correct SA stock.

Love the 6M SA. Picked it up from the SS floor back in 2012. Several NM parts and barrel.

Is that one of the x2000? National Match parts seem rare/valuable my only concern would be that you can't use them in the Garand matches. Is that correct?

Can't use the NM rear sights. I don't think many folks get turned away from rifle matches these days.
