Mr Hanky, is this a matching base to the serial of the rifle? This is interesting staking. It looks like the original staking was from a soft receiver that was subsequently restaked like a hard receiver. Just wondering if this might be an example of some SA rework when they were trying to correct accuracy problems. The base would have been from a hardened receiver. The staking of a pin and the other stakings look like maybe they were trying to figure out how they wanted to do it going forward.

Default Sa m1d

Hi folks
Here we have a rack grade m1d, sn 799XXX
Some reason was back ordered and came down from the north store.
I like the arsenal repairs to the wood, shows some character and who knows could have been during the war at that repair station in Italy.
Horrible TE6 but the pointy end aint bad at 3.
Have a question, going from the photos any idea of the origin of this gun?
Greek, turkey, Philippines?

Thanks in advance

picked this Springfield Arsenal M1C earlier this month but just got around to posting it.. The rifle was sold by CMP back in 2007, the base and mount are mismatched and the scope is a Lyman B-Series Alaskan, and the barrel is an SA 1-52 replacement. The flash hider is Stamped Bracket version of the Hart M2 and the cheek rest is a surplus original.

Ok, I'll play. I purchased this Winchester M1D, with CMP provenance, from a friend in North Carolina, for a fair price. He did not have a mount nor a scope, so I purchased those, myself. A USGI mount and a Lyman Alaskan scope. I did not feel the need to buy an expensive M84 and the Alaskan was legal for sniper rifle matches. Have only had it to the range once, trying to dial it in. AM not there, yet.
