Rutter, thanks for the message. I actually still don't have a blank fire pistol now since this A** H*** scammed me. So, I will pass for now.

I'm actually exploring the option of a blank fire barrel to swap in and out with my live fire 1911. I have a Rock Island in GI configuration.

Hello Kilgarvan, hope things work out. I've only had one transaction so am new to the Forums. That transaction went very well after an initial hiccup but I don't know if that is luck or doing it right. I sent the buyer my name, email address, mail address, phone, and figured that way they could look me up wherever they wanted in addition to my profile here. Hopefully this post is not off track for the thread. I'm open to advice on handling transactions to avoid problems.

Hello folks,

I recently put an add for a 1903a4 clone in the WTB section here.

I was contacted by email from someone claiming to be a poster from the Gunboards forum. This person also sent me a link to his/her feedback. After reading through some of Hikerlt's posts and contact info, I could tell that someone was using his good name to try and scam me. They also sent me pictures of a real 03a4 so I knew something was up.

I contacted Hikerlt through the Gunboard forum and he verified it wasn't him. I played along for a few days until we got a name and address, then finally told the scammer we were on to him/her.

Anyway, be on the look out for people using someone's good name and feedback to try and sell you something. A PM asking if this is really you would work great.

I have done many dealings on here with complete strangers without any issues. I would hate to see someone lose their hard earned money to scum like this person and also try and ruin a good poster's reputation.

Well, I had my second scammer of the year from the want to buy forum.

I placed an add to buy a 1903a4 or a3 stock. I had someone contact me showing me pictures of a stock set from Ebay. It was easy to spot since I looked at every listing in Ebay several times.

I contacted the seller who happened to be Northridge and they said it wasn't them.

After I got her address, I told her I had a relative who lived in her area and he would drive over to her place with cash to buy it. I haven't heard back since.

Anyway. Don't do business with this person:

I was contacted with a furious email telling me to back off and I was like what?

but went on and on - I finally looked up his scam bad feedback and realized someone had replied to my initial reply, and then added an 'AD' to the bottom.

So, I told the guy, listen, its over with, leave me alone.

Not really how I feel, but I tried all the legal ways I knew....

How did they contact you. Was it the email you posted in your ad, or a PM with a user name? If user name in PM, report them. If email, mods can do nothing.

Emails on the forum are an open invitation to scammers that are not forum members, even though you said stay away.

The first scammer was when I was looking for a 1903a4 clone. He/She gave me a San Antonio, Texas address. He/She emailed me saying they were Hikerlt from a different forum. The scammer then showed me pictures of a real A4.

It was by email only so nothing the mods can do. I only do business with posters here with good feedback. If I have my doubts, I will pm the seller making sure its them selling and not someone posing as them.

These two scammers were very easy. It was obvious they didn't know what they were talking about.
