Default Target Height CMP Games

Is there a formula for how high the target is above the ground for different rifle ranges? At our reduced course (100 yards) we shoot two targets at a time to accommodate the range cease fire schedule. Both the prone target centers are about 24" from the ground. The sighter and offhand centers are 48" from the ground. I find that the mirage seems to have more effect on the lower targets. That and my older eyes are not a good combination.

Thanks,

Dave

It'll vary from range to range, depending on terrain. The CMP New England Games is shot in the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the firing lines at 300/600 on the same targets is much higher elevation than 200. Talladega is flat all the way out, and the firing line is elevated as well

It's not uncommon to have different zeros for different ranges. At one of the HP ranges around here, it feels like you're shooting downhill during 200 yard standing. Keep a data book....

Thanks, the range is pretty flat, I just noticed that my groups on the higher target were tight but on the lower target they got larger. I had a hard time seeing where the post and black met.
