Default Welding an M14 heal on an M1A receiver questions

I picked up an M14 receiver back from a local gun show a few weeks ago. I normally would not have been interested but it was marked O-69 and it being possibly a USMC rifle, I figured that I would take a chance on it.

Can anyone tell me what outfit takes these and welds them onto the front half of an M1A receiver? I thought it was James River but their website seems broken and gives me Certificate errors.

Also can anyone point me to a diagram or picture that shows where the cut/weld is on these welded receivers?

James River Armory did this a few years ago using Bula Defense Systems un-heat-treated donor M14 receivers. There were a couple of generations of cuts done, 1st was cut in sight pocket and the 2nd just aft of the pocket at the connection of the flat on the heel.

I have multiples of both generations in the herd which built into superb retro rifles. This is no longer being done.

I don't believe anyone did these using M1A SAI receivers.

This is a Winchester 1st generation weld cut in front of rear sight ears.

These are generation 2 where the cuts and weld were aft of the rear sight pockets.

I have a nice de-milled SA M14 heel that I wish could be welded into an un-heated treated receiver as shown in the above link (with ATF approval of course), but I missed the boat. James River's quit doing that a few years ago, and nf1e was one of the few folks who really took advantage of that product offering. So I suspect my de-milled heel will continue to gather dust...

Maybe if enough people show interest, they will start that up again.

Inside info, or just pessimism?

Realism... I sent the last four non-heat treated donor receiver to JRA before the Bula/JRA relationship really crapped the bed.
