40X. More available parts, easier to mount a scope on.

I have both and prefer the 40X for some reason. But also have an Annie 1813 Super Match that I like even better.

I'll break with consensus and say I like my 52D a bit better than my 40X heavy barrel. They're both insanely accurate, but its hard to beat the trigger on the 52.
For some reason, my standard barrel 40X bests them both in the accuracy department.

I'll have to say the 40X. I have competed with both the Win 52 and the 40X and I always preferred the trigger on the 40X. I guess it is just a personal opinion thing. I personally think that the 40X is the finest 22LR target rifle I have ever shot.

Just my $.02 worth.

Default Win 52

I agree with the statement that the triggers on the Win 52's are truely incredible. I own both a Win 52D and rem40x. I pick the Win

I love 'em both. The 52D Micro-motion trigger is amazing for a stock trigger but the 40X's trigger isn't bad. I do agree that I like the tapped receiver for standard scope bases on the 40X. I have a 2" Unertl which gets a little heavy so it is nice to fall back to a lighter scope.

I don't have a strong preference but I find the Remington to be very, very heavy. I enjoy more shooting one I have with the standard barrel, that I think was set up for shooting offhand.
