depends on when you want to go. Sometimes they have a spot for same day or next day. Others they get booked up in advance. usually I set mine up a couple of weeks in advance

have an appointment for the 30th.
first time to a store.
hope it does not snow as I have 3.5 hour drive

Snow usually means far less people in the store so less competition, so that's a silver lining at least..

I have a 3.25 hour drive. One of my best Garand pickups was almost 18 years ago during a January snowstorm that coated my initial path by 4am and was reaching a crazy high accumulation rate by the time I was 30-45 minutes away.

I was completely alone from opening till about 10:30-11. Glad they stayed open for me. Glad I had a Jeep Cherokee too.

I am in NW Indiana so have the eastern Indiana snow belt and lake Erie .
good thought on no one else there if its snowing
