Default Magazine Cutoff Question 1903a3

Putting together a Smith and just installed the cutoff and I noticed when you pull the bolt back in the on position it is the same position when the cutoff is off. Meaning the bolt stops at the same place weather the cutoff is on or off. Now there is no bottom metal on it it like the follower or follower spring and those items may need to be installed before the magazine cutoff works. So does the cutoff interact with the follower? Or does it interact with the bolt? Because as of now the bolt comes back and stops at the same place, just behind the rear bridge.

The magazine cutoff works independently from the magazine and magazine follower. Your description indicates that you have a problem with the ejector or the slot in the left bolt locking lug that initiates the ejector. If the slot in the left bolt locking lug is boogered, the ejector can keep the bolt from coming back all the way.

Good Luck!
