In pic 3 is that a giant crater filled with grease behind the sight rear corner?

Many Underwood type 1 rear sights have a marking on the peep ".U.".
Does it have a mark on the peep like this one?

That's a real .U. flip. So far the counterfeiters haven't been able to get the.U. stamp correct.

I’ve owned my early Underwood for many years with known provenance back to 1949. I never realized it had the •U• on the flip sight until seeing the discussion and the photo in this thread.
