Seems to be a few of us here. I think there are more as I run into a number of people at the gun shows and the range that know about the forum but probably just visit. I know of a couple that frequent other boards but don't participate on this one.

Default Checking in from Fairbanks

Just joined the forum. Looks pretty slow around here but figured I would check in nevertheless. I recently ordered a CMP Service Grade and am anxiously awaiting its arrival. I suppose I will have to keep buying ammo until it arrives.

If you'll take a tourist on a temp basis, I have been here almost 3 weeks and will be heading home in less than 48 hrs. Last item on my agenda is fly fishing for Bows near Denali. Already shipped over 200 lbs of fish home. The Bows will be catch and release. Today was a rare day, Clear, Sunny, Calm. Flew up to Ruth Glacier this morning took some great pictures.

I have a nasty "But Hickey". For those that don't know, that is a black and blue mark on the hip from reeling in big Halibut.

I saw a rifle range on the way and my wife said no way. I've been shooting high power for 10 years and it was the first time she said no to me shooting at the range. Like a good husband, I said those two famous words: "Yes Dear"

X Hunter, sounds like you had a good trip. Where did you go halibut fishing out of?

Anchor point near Homer 3 trips scheduled,
First trip - limited out Everyone got an over and an under
Second trip - no go - bad weather
Third trip - should have been a no go - came in early in 12 sea in a 26ft boat - I earned the nick name Bucket Head, didn't use it but was holding it closer than a married guy at his girl friends place.
We did catch a few halibut before we came in but it was rough. The Capt unhooked my fish and was going to toss it back because it was only an inch over, I said no, put it in the box; 15 min later we were heading in.

Went out of Seward, about 60 miles out, and caught some nice eating size fish for the overs and kept unders that were just under. Plus we caught a crap load of black sea bass. Couldn't find any ling cod.

Three trips for salmon on the Kenai River and limited out each trip.
Got to meat Fish and Game twice. They treated us well, but then, since we were out of staters and very careful to be within the regs. One slamon trip at Anchor point, not many but we caught silvers.

Up near Denali, I fly fished for grayling and trout - CPR - catch, photograph, and release.

The wife and I split the trip up, some touristy stuff for her and fishing for me but she did fish some. The high point of the trip, pun intended, was a plane ride to Ruth Glacier on Denali.

My frozen fish arrived Tuesday and the freezer is full up, just like after deer season.

Saw lots of bears (brown and black) dall sheep, mt goats, caribou, sea lions, and sea otters. Got tired of looking at eagles we saw many of them. Saw a crap load of cow moose but not a single bull. My wife saw a wolf on a half eaten caribou carcass. I didn't believe her but the guide said yes it was and very few people get a chance to see a wolf.

Rode the train to White Pass.

Boated out to watch glaciers calving and saw some big ones.

Went to see Jeff King's huskies. Had to make my wife go through the X-Ray machine to be sure she wasn't smuggling a puppy home.

Trip of a life time for us.

Thing I missed most from lower 48, fresh milk!

DANG! this thread has been quiet for a while. Time to liven it up a bit!
Wish there was a John C. Garand match in this state!
