    Post-WW2 Government Contract Barrel

I know that curiosity killed the cat...

    BUT...

This inquiring mind wants to know!

Who made these post WW2 government contract barrels?

CLAWSON (3rd Edition) & POYER are mum on the subject.

I do not think that that number is a contract number. When l looked it up in FLIS, it is a Part Number for NIIN 007223849. The only current user is the Marines and they have it coded as "terminal".

The only CAGE code associated with the NIIN and PN is Rock Island Arsenal. Doesn't mean much other than if there is a contractor who has provided the part their CAGE code was never associated in FEDLOG. See it often.

BTW, I have a few of those and they have different markings....I will try and decode if possible.

I have a couple of the 73677 stamped barrels. It appears that this 73677 CAGE Code for Duroyd no longer exists. If you search Duroyd, you see all kinds of litigation where the government has sued them. I suspect that they were subsequently barred from government contracts, but didn't see any firm evidence of that. Often times, mergers, buyouts, and other organizational changes will prompt changes to CAGE codes, but Duroyd does not appear to have one based on name.

I also have a couple of the TZ marked barrels that were identified in your posts as IMI products.
