Can anyone recommend a good gunsmith in the Triangle area of NC, particularly one that might have some experience with military surplus firearms? I am in Durham and would like to know if there is anywhere nearby that I could take my firearms for work if needed. Thanks!

I replied to the PM, but to answer here more briefly, I need to check headspace in a Garand (at least until I can get a field gage off backorder) and I'm building up a carbine from parts, so I'll at least need some help installing the rear sight on a barreled receiver. I know I can buy the tool for that for $100, but it would likely be a one-use tool for me and I was hoping to just have someone else with the tool do it for cheaper than $100. Other work on the carbine build might follow later, depending on how it goes.

You might want to try Blair Clowdis at Clowdis Precision. he is in Randleman, but you will find him at most of the long range matches at Butner. Otherwise, youre probably wanting to talk to Isaac McCaskill out of Cassett SC, who you can find at Butner at some of the XTC matches, or during the Creedmoor Cup. Both are top notch smiths....Blair more towards LR prone guns, Isaac towards the military stuff.
