The tan faux Pelican cases are HUGE!
I also would liked to have one of the USGI cardboard cases. |

This is a reproduction of the old boxes and is reasonably priced. https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1014534289

OK, that's fine but as my Dad often told me "I don't think you are going to get exactly what you want".

There are other reproduction boxes for sale that are marked and they will take a grease pencil and mark what ever serial you want on the box.

As a collector and sometime shooter - I don't want a repro box - I would love to buy the box mine came in and if that is too hard, I'd purchase an original box - I would imagine it was considered but then the shipping boxes got bigger and bigger and they decided against it, that and many of them did not come with a box from the military

Just offering suggestions...….
![]() If you want to call that the wrong box, go ahead. But then some of these have no box at all...………. How do you or anybody know if your pistol came in a separate box as opposed to all those sent in a large wooden crate surrounded by bubble wrap...…? Let me guess, you'd want the wooden crate? I mean just asking...……. ![]() Again: How do you or anybody know if your pistol came in a separate box as opposed to all those sent in a large wooden crate surrounded by bubble wrap...…?

But seriously, I think almost every collector would want the original box their pistol came in, assuming it had a serial number to match. This shouldn't be surprising to any who lurk here. I'm not faulting CMP for not making this happen, likely because they had much bigger things to worry about with the 1911 program, but a guy can dream.

Blockhead:
I'm not throwing stones at you in anyway...………. ![]() Yes, I understand why a collector might want the "LAST-BOX-IT-WAS-IN" because the "original" box got tossed 75years ago. But right/wrong that decision (to send out pistols in the "LAST-BOX-IT-WAS-IN" or not) was decided 9000? pistols ago. I suspect that "ship sailed long ago." And people are whining about the different pistol cases they got, I can only imagine how upset people would be if they found out their pistol just came from a plain-old-ratty wood crate with some Chinese-made recycled 7 times bubble wrap.
