Default Possible USMC 1903?

I received this rifle a while back and often wondered if it could have been a USMC rifle? It has a few traits but is also missing a few too. Curious to hear what the experts think. TIA

Judging from what I see in your pictures, you do indeed appear to have a USMC rifle. Thanks for your patronage!

Hello John,
Could you please point put the features of the rifle that have you believe that it is a USMC? Not disputing your opinion, just wish to know for future reference.

thanks.

2 features that I see that may be indicative of USMC usage are the left side gas relief hole, sometimes called a Hatcher Hole, and the rifles serial etched into the bolt.

Here's what I see.

(1) The serial number is o.k. for a USMC rifle. There are some USMC rifles in that serial range, but not a lot.

(2) The receiver has an added USMC left-side gas escape hole.

(3) The rifle has a serialized bolt (matching).

(4) And most importantly, the rifle appears to have the peculiar USMC urine-colored parkerized finish.
