7.1 million Inland Carbine

I have a couple of carbines; Winchester, early Inland, and an Inland Paratrooper. Recently I was presented the opportunity to purchase a 7.1 million serial number Inland. Are these anything special or just the last of the carbines?

Just make sure it is M 1.

Even if it has a '1', be very cautious as they show up scrubbed and restamped. Outside of a couple early 7M I don't think I've ever seen one I'd be comfortable owning.

I have also seen at least one 7 million Inland carbine that was marked M1 on the front receiver ring, but was constructed (welded) from two receiver halves. Look very closely as the sides of the receiver on both sides inside and outside to make sure this is not the case with your opportunity.

I have also seen 7 million Inlands that had been M2 marked then the "2" stamping was ground flat, stamped with a "1" and then cold blued where the number followed the "M". That procedure doesn't make it legal to own.

There are some legit early 7.1 million Inlands and they are very collectable, just don't get burned on something that isn't actually a 7 million M1 Inland carbine as it came out of the factory.

20 years in a collection is meaningless. Most rewelds were done 30-40 years ago or longer, before recent imports and the mass CMP sales program, when carbines and Garands were hard to find.

Well guys I looked at it and the serial number he gave me was the number on the side of the type three sight. It actually is an AO IBM carbine. Has IBM barrel

Anyone remember the early funny days of Saturday Night Live with the character of Emily Litella that was played by Gilda Radner. Her comment at the end of the skits where she misinterpreted the situation ended with her comment of "Never mind".

Too bad it wasn't a legit 7 million Inland, but a AO IBM could still be a nice catch.

I do remember that Mike. I ended up purchasing it along with 2 mags and 190 rounds of ammo
