Received a strange email this morning with a link to click, which I knew not to click on. Email has been deleted.

Came from a mrhell from Zimbabwe.

It was addressed to my username, Kansas Poster, at my email.

Wonder how they linked my username and email?

Nope. Your example sends an email from the CMP. Just tested it again.

The one I got from Zimbabwe came direct to my email from the bad guy.

Reference the sticky in the Garand section by my fellow mod (see 1st link below), as well as that of one or our members (see 2nd link), if you get a PM from a user going by "James3" "gunsgoner12" "kthom116" or "jhall5754" soliciting the sale of firearms and/or parts...do NOT respond!

This goes beyond the spam PMs mentioned previously...these are outright scams! These folks are actively "casing" forums and targeting folks with specific items they are wanting to buy.
Report the PM to us immediately if you get one!

The verbiage of the PM will be similar to one reported to us tonight:

I got one from Gusgoner. Canned it anyway when he shot me a pic of the rifle half out of the frame then when I asked for details give me a copy and paste paragraph of the history of the M1

I got one from gunsgoner as well. He replied to an old WTB posting. I figured with a brand new join date, no posts, and no user info I would ignore it.

HAD THIS HAPPEN TO ME ON FACEBOOK. MY EX COMPANY COMMANDER SUPPOSEDLY SENT FACE BOOK MESSAGE. TELLING ABOUT THE WONDERFUL WINDFALL HE JUST HAD. HE WAS GOING TO RECEIVE$150,000 FREE. jUST PAY THE TAXES N FEES. ONE OF OLDEST SCAMS GOING.
WHEN I ASKED WHAT THE 1ST 2 LETTERS OF HIS E-MAIL WAS.
ALL OF HIS POSTING DISAPPEARED . YOU HAVE TO BE CAUTIOUS CONSTANTLY TO AVOID BEING SCAMMED.
