Default Midway USA M1 Carbine Picture Thread

Alright fellas, post 'em here!

Mine's a NPM s/n 1947805 with a Marlin barrel, NPM slide, NPM trigger group, QHC sear, (I gotta check again) trigger, Winchester dog-leg hammer, Winchester bolt, Winchester extractor, NPM firing pin, Rockola I-Cut stock and Inland handguard.

I washed the stock and handguard to remove the cosmo and am waiting on the first light hand rubbed coat of BLO to dry. While that's going on I'm going to have to strip the metal of cosmoline. It is in every crevice, corner and hole.

When it's all cleaned up I'll post "After" photos.

Let's see everybodies here!

Standard products, good-very good, 2-44 Underwood barrel, W marked high wood stock. Stock had a lot of mold on it.

Winchester G-VG. I thought Midway was VERY fair in rating these. IR CO rear sight, IR / flaming bomb replacement stock. All other parts Winchester.

Default G-VG Winchester

S/N 1,16X,XXX

OI stock
Saginaw recoil plate
Inland trigger assembly
PI Inland adjustable rear sight
National Postal Meter slide
Standard Products flat bolt (I think, had 49S on left lug)
Rock-Ola handguard
Winchester w and oval WP barrel
ME gauged 1+

Probably won't disassemble any further to examine the smaller parts until I get a bolt tool.

Winchester, VG-F, no bayonet lug. 1.14M serial number, I can't find a single spot of rust or pitting of any kind. There's a little bit of mold on the outside of the stock, mostly around the pistol grip. This is my first M1 Carbine, and I'm extremely happy with it. I've been doing all kinds of research on all of the parts, and I think I have a fair number of early war parts.

For cleaning the cosmoline off of the metal surfaces, would dunking them in a mineral spirits bath, scrubbing them with a soft brush, and then coating them in gun oil do the trick? For the stock, mineral spirits, wipe down? Any special care instructions for the mold?

Very nice. Very hot water removes cosmoline. Dry the metal. Lightly oil the parts and wipe any excess. I like doing a boiled linseed oil scrub with #0000 steel wool on the stock

I am just learning about M1's here is my Quality Hardware (VG-F) box came through fine, no dents or tears. Seems to be in very nice shape, just a tad of cosmoline under the top handguard and in it.
Serial # 156XXXX
Quality Hardware under adjustable sight
ROCK-OLA barrel dated 2-43
Top handguard marked OI
Stock only marking I could find is a "V" in the receiver well
Square cross hatch on recoil plate
"L" on Trigger group
flat bolt
UI on the barrel band - Type 1

what is the "V" in the receiver well?

I ordered a VG-Fine. From what I have seen its no better if not worse than some G-VG. Little bit of a mix master on the parts from what I was hoping for as well. Glad to finally have one but learned a lesson buying site unseen. Knowing what I know now I would not do it again. I feel like better deals can be had hunting local or even gun broker. Yall have a look and let me know your thoughts. First time posting photos like this I hope I have it figured out.
