I think one is all I can afford right now. I wanted another 82g before they are gone. I do like the looks of that 52d. Nice. Is the 40x and 52's more for collectors or shooters like them also? How does the 82g compare, I like mine.

They must have taken down, I don't see it.

Fred452:

They all shoot better than most of their owners are capable of. The 82G has a finicky bolt. The HB's are heavier and thus more stable from the bench. Any .22 that has US markings on it has value to collectors, but I will guarantee that if you take care of it, you won't wear it out. They were meant to be shot.

I'd be surprised if there weren't 82Gs long after the 40Xs and 52s are gone.

RA - thanks again for sharing, NICE 52D. Was the wood on any of the 52s marked in any way? I'm assuming the metal does have US markings, correct?

So is that an Olympic Globe front sight? What is the correct rear sight (since it looks like the ones that will be available will be without)?

Fred - from what I understand from the guys who were in the smallbore game the 40x is the way to go (especially if you had to get only one - for example, I came across a Remington 513T only because the guy who gave it up finally came across his 40x). Of course the gyrenes out there, like my dearly departed father would claim if he was still around, will swear that the USMC markings are good for a few more extra points per match

All things being considered, and particularly considering the nut behind the trigger, you really aren't going to see much difference (performance-wise) between the Kimbers, 40x, 52-series, H&Rs and dare I say it, the Mossbergs. You will only begin to truly appreciate the subtle differences when your skills begin to approach Master/Distinguished level. Even the Top Shot guys won't see a difference, heck Chuck Norris probably won't even notice

If reaching that level is one of your goals, then I'd say wear out the Kimber on the way in then switch to the 40x. I'm not a smallbore-focused shooter so my sights are set elsewhere.

.
Some of the stocks had Rack Numbers stenciled on them. The 52's had "US" electropenciled on them. Correct on the front sight. The rear is a Redfield Palma. I think they came issued with an International; The Palma is a step up.

Default Disappearing Ink or Just a Tease

They were there and now they are gone. What's up with that?
I fired off my order. FEDEX Next Day! By the time I got back to the page, it had disappeared. Others on this post confirm having seen the release and are also wondering.
I think others like me (perhaps hundreds) having been checking the sales page each morning for the release. Past experience has proven the broadcast email announcing the release doesn't coincide with first posting. So, if you want a gun, you better be checking.
So, the question is "did some web page techie jump the gun or was the release met with a deluge of customers who were poised at the Stores for opening morning and the inventory was completely depleted?"
