Default M1907 Sling Too Long

I recently bought a surplus M1907 Sling that was marketed as a 1950s US Army surplus, but upon putting it on my M1 it's too long, and it will not be "tight" no matter what. I check the web and it has too many holes in it compared to "standard" 1907 slings. Were there ever "longer" 1907 slings or anything to that effect for other rifles? Or is this likely a bad repro?

It is an older sling, the feel, the flexibility, and the smell of old military surplus are correct. It has some numbers on it as if they are a rack number. But I dont see anything pressed into the leather itself. All this combined makes unsure about it.

Any thoughts?

I wonder if it was made out of a BAR sling? I believe they were longer, and had an extra hook.

See Post #1 and #11 for a BAR sling (lower sling section is 24" & upper sling section is 48" long)

If it is a cut down BAR sling it's well done, the end that would be cut is finished just like the others with a hook, in terms of shape I mean.
