Hi fellas, new member here and a proud new owner of a field grade m1! Does anyone from the area (central CT) have range recommendations? New to the garand and pretty new to shooting in general!

Yeah, your best (and pretty much only) bet is Blue Trail. Unfortunately, it's only 100yds, expensive, poorly maintained, and ownership is often rude. But it's the only game in town for public outdoor ranges.
Bell City in Southington is having an NRA match this Saturday morning. It's private, but anyone can shoot in the match. I think it's like $12 or so for non-members. http://www.bellcity.org/Highpower.html Last edited by JasonFromCT; 07-09-2014 at 11:57 AM. |

See if Westfield (Mass) Sportsman's Club is still in business. Beautiful 300 yard range. Not far from you. I used to shoot there in the early 70's and there were lots of Conn. shooters at the matches. But that was a long time ago ...

Thanks for the tips. Has anyone shot at the public (and free!) range in Glastonbury?
http://www.ct.gov/deep/cwp/view.asp?a=2700&q=439010 It doesn't specifically prohibit hi power. |

They're only open for 4 hours, and you need reservations. You can only reserve a single slot, which is 2 hours (10-12 or 12-2). Doesn't really seem worth it.
