I think this may possibly be a CMP rifle given that I can find no rebuild markings anywhere, but not sure and it doesn't really matter. It also came with a full bandolier of HXP. Anyway, I found this a couple days ago in a pawn/gun shop and it was in such good condition I had to get it. The serial number dates it from March 1941, so a nice early Garand. It has a Springfield 11-63 barrel that is shiny with great rifling..

Hereís my Win-13 that came in today. I upgraded to WRA SG to help clear the backlog. With the exception of the crack on the handguard, this is one rifle Iím happy with.

Default John Garand Knew How to Build'em

cmp member rekkert (Pat) encouraged me to show a few of these photos of my Springfield after it went boom the other day. He was kind enough to look it over and was a big help(as well as Joe) with some possible cause and solutions. These old war horses were really built tough....as bad as it was, it could have been worse.

https://i.imgur.com/BT4BEF5.jpgReceived this Winchester SG yesterday. Was hoping for a GI Stock but am happy with rifle. Appears to be in good shape mostly SA parts except for the barrel.

Default Apr. 1940 SA service grade

Recently received this 5 digit service grade, SA-4-65 rebuild. Barrel is 43 SA with 1+/2+ but looks new inside. 1/2 DAS stamp stock. Doesn't appear to have been used since rebuild. Very happy with this one.

Default SA service grade

Just arrived today. New wood, 4.2M serial number.

I am thinking barrel is original, per it's date. Haven't torn down yet. Clean gun, looks great, no rust or pitting on quick inspection.

First Garand. Believe might be original barrel? Bolt is WRA, can barely see cartouche 'R' I believe, so might be HFR stock? Beyond that, don't know what to look for with parts yet.
