Default Why both A4 and AN

I received a SA SG today. Mid 43 with replacement 1/55 SA barrel (0+, 1+). The interesting thing about the rifle is the stock and hand guards. Excellent condition, well matched with a really nice NFR cartouche. It has two Anniston Army Depot markings. Why two? Rebuilt twice?

According to this article by Canfield with Anniston rebuilds that is often the case.

As an old Army Sgt once told me. " We aren't here to make sense, we are here to follow the Army's orders". That is a timeless quote that probably goes back to Roman times.
