Smile 2 SG - one Springfield one HRA arrived today

As i mentioned in my previous post - Delivery today - FedEx showed up @ 9am. Like Christmas in JUNE!

I did get Walnut (I requested USGI or CMP Walnut) and original GI to boot.

here's a brief rundown:

Springfield - BOD: January 1943 (11256XX). had HRA op.rod, HRA Bolt, HRA trigger group.
Stock was back porch HRA with DOD stamp and P proof - good shape, with character marks. Barrel SA 11/53.
ME: 2 TE:4. metal very nice. receiver stamp "outstanding" deep and crisp. DRC windage.

HRA- BOD: 1954-1956 (56388XX). Had SA op.rod, SA bolt, HRA trigger group. Stock SA post war with DOD stamp and P proof - good shape with character marks, Barrel HRA 6/55 punchmark proof, I think original to receiver. ME: 1 TE:2. metal very nice, receiver stamp "great" deep and crisp. HRA windage

Already swapped parts to SA v. HRA - HRA now seems complete, need SA trigger group for SA receiver, but TG appears great shape.

HRA thick with cosmoline, SA not so much.

26 days from my post office to delivery to my office.

I could not be more pleased if I picked them out myself, and the anticipation is soooooooo much fun.

CMP THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Serial #385xxxx...so from the Fulton Armory Garand SN page, It would look like it was 'born' in June 1945

I haven't gotten a tracking notice yet, so no idea on if I'll get it tomorrow or Friday.

Default HRA SG Arrived Today

Asked for USGI wood and got it. Some small gouges and handling marks, but most of it will steam out. The stock is SA but I have an SA M1 with an HRA stock, so a swap is in order. Receiver and barrel are 1954. MW=2, TE=3. Oprod, bolt, hammer are SA. Trigger housing is WRA. Some cosmoline but it wiped off easily with mineral spirits and acetone. More muzzle wear than my other two SG's, but not bad. We'll see how it shoots! My next order will be for a SG SA and hopefully I'll get a bunch of HRA parts on it. All-in-all, pretty happy. I know, no pictures, but I'm leaving in the morning on a 10-day road trip, so no time now.

Looks like they are really cooking over there!

I've gotten a replacement spring set and green sling from here: https://www.standardpartsllc.com/pro...p_default.asp?

Got 24 en blocs from here: http://www.ammogarand.com/m1-garand-...-12ea-112.html

Pics and what-do-I-have when it gets here
Ammo got here yesterday. Loaded a few en bloc clips and got a little tipsy off the ammo smell. Ammo cans in pretty nice shape.

Then I log in this morning. Rifle shipped today! Only bummer is, I'm leaving work to go see about my dad tomorrow afternoon, so my wife will have to baby-sit it until I get back Sunday evening (Unless I can sneak out at lunch and grab it...) Taking AT LEAST a loaded clip to put in my dad's hand to bring back his National Guard memories...

E-store says the SN is 1080xxx. Being new to the M1, I exercise my search-fu...am I interpreting that right? The SA SG I ordered was made (well, the receiver anyway) in Feb 1943??? I may pass out
