Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club - 300yd Prone Rifle Match - March 6, 2016

The Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club will be holding a 300 yard Prone Rifle match on Sunday, March 6th, 2016. Registration begins at 8:30AM and we will commence fire at 9:00AM.

This will be a 60 shot, slow-fire prone match fired at 300 yards. Shooters will compete in either an optics or iron-sight class. The optics class will be open to F-Open, F-TR, Any-sight match/tactical rifles, or scoped sporting rifles. The iron-sight class will be open to all NRA match and service rifles.

Shooters may use coats, slings, gloves, mats, spotting scopes, etc. as they would for any NRA match. F-Open and F-TR rifles may use rests or bipods appropriate for their rifles, as specified by NRA rules. Other rifles equipped with optics will be permitted to use bipods. No muzzle breaks please!

Optics class shooters will compete using the NRA MR63F target. Iron-sight shooters will compete using the NRA MR63 target.

The course of fire will be:
Match 1: 300 yards, 2 sighting shots + 20 record shots. 22 minute time limit
Match 2: 300 yards, 2 sighting shots + 20 record shots. 22 minute time limit
Match 3: 300 yards, 2 sighting shots + 20 record shots. 22 minute time limit

Competitors must provide their own ammo for this match.

Safe shooters of all skill levels are welcome to come and participate. Awards are given for match winner and best-in-class(es) for optics and iron-sight rifles. Match fees are $20 for adults and $10 for juniors.

The spring-like weather that day made for some great shooting conditions and the people showed up in droves. This was one of the best turnouts that we have had in ages. The top shooter and class winners in the match ended up scoring within a few points of each other, so there was some hard shooting taking place. Overall, a great match on a great day.
