Question K31 Shooters - GP11 or Reloads ?

For all those shooting the K31 in the vintage rifle matches are you using GP11 ammo or reloading your own 7.5 Swiss and results?

Thanks

I used the Privi and silvered with it, if your setup to reload for it those will obviously be best but the Privi shoots great right out of the box

For 100-200 yards, I used handloads with my standard 110gr loads.. plenty accurate and light recoil. Good Shooting...

Default K31 Shooters - GP11 or Reloads ?

Reload my own. 150 FMJBT w/ IMR4350 or R17, CCI 200, PPU brass typically. I started with 168 match but the 150 is plenty accurate enough at 200.

Watch the COAL…measure for your selected bullet in your rifle…it’ll be well under anything publish in the reloading manuals for 7.5x55 probably as they are typically based of the deeper throated older Schmidt Rubin models.

The few times I have used my K31 I had mediocre results so I shelved it in favor of the M1917 for vintage rifle match. I found a pretty good stash of GP11 that I forgot I had so figured to switch it up and give the old rifle another try this season.

Have components but, zero boxer primed brass or dies to work with to bad GP11 brass is berdan primed but, I know that's another story. Anybody snag any medal trinket's using the GP11 surplus ammo lately ?

Thanks

Used both over a decade. Reloads won't shoot better than GP-11, but they will shoot as well. I used 168gr HPBT just like I did with all the .30-06 rounds and my K-31 liked them just fine. As Stewbaby said, other bullets will NOT load to the COL, you will have to load them shorter (mine were 2.84). But just measure your COL with whatever bullet you want to use and go from there.

I used GP11 and my K31 shot really well with that. So well it helped me win 3 matches (I can't grade the competition!). GP11 worked great.

I shoot Swiss rifle matches in a local club. If you have some 155 gr or 168 gr match bullets, just trust me and try the accuracy load according to the Sierra manual. 43.9 gr ( I just round it up to 44.0 gr) of IMR 4064. This load will make you look better than you are. LOL. Seat to mag length of course. If you do your part they will fill up the middle of the target in little groups. The Swiss matches are all shot at 300M and it's not unusual to see 4-5" groups with the diopter style sights. The 300 meter Intl bull 10 ring is no joke with irons and I've shot strings of 10 with scores in the 94-96 range using this combo. I know the 110's shoot well, but the wind will toss them around a bit at 300M. Best of luck.....
