The Charlotte Rifle & Pistol Club will be holding our US Historic Military Rifle match on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016. Bring out your M1 Garand, 1903 Springfield, 1917 Enfield or other historic US service rifle! Registration begins at 8:30AM and we will commence fire at 9:00AM.

This match is similar to the CMP Garand/Springfield "as-issued" match format and will require 40 shots for record, plus sighting shots. The entire match is shot at 200 yards and consists of slow & rapid fire strings in the prone, sitting and standing positions . This match is geared toward historic US service rifles but if you want to come out with modern or foreign military rifles just check with me beforehand.

Competitors must provide their own ammo for this match. This will be a NO-ALIBI match. Military 200yd Able 5V targets will be used.

Safe shooters of all skill levels are welcome to come and participate. Awards are given for match winner and best-in-class(es) for shooters firing historic US service rifles. Modern or foreign rifles are not eligible for awards, but are welcome to participate.

Match fees are $20 for adults and $10 for juniors.

The course of fire will be:

• Sighting period, 5 sighting shots, 5 minute time limit
• Slow fire prone, 10 rounds for record, 10 min time limit
• Rapid fire prone, 10 rounds for record, 80 sec time limit
• Rapid fire sitting, 10 rounds for record, 70 sec time limit
• Slow fire standing, 10 rounds for record, 10 min time limit

What a fantastic turnout for the first match of the year with 20 shooters showing up (3 out of competition). It was a bit chilly in the morning, but blue skies and a warmer afternoon prevailed. We had some great scores too, with some "clean" strings being fired.
