Default M4 bayonet with scrubbed makers mark

I picked up a m4 bayonet that is in pretty nice shape. The pommel does not have any markings. The Blade dosent have any markings. The only marking is on the guard on the top side which is a small bomb. Underneath the guard is a very clean grind mark that looks like it took off the makers mark. I picked up this bayonet because it still had a leather hand guard but Iím curious if anyone knows where it would come from that this would happen.

I've read that manufacturers did this after the war so they could sell them to the public. They had to scrub the military markings off for some reason. Don't know why unless it was so no one thought it was stolen government property. Could be something completely different too. I have an M3 like that. Has the flaming bomb X'd out on the pommel and you can see where the blade was ground down to get rid of the M3 markings.

I own three Greek made M4 bayonets that look very nice and none of them have markings.
