Gun shows are very hit or miss though. I just went to a military show last weekend. Seems like it would be the perfect place to find a carbine. I saw only three. Two of them were a little more than I wanted to pay and one was way too much. Still cool to go and see all the history though. Many many bayonets...
I got my Inland 69007xx hand-stamp 7 years ago from a prepper at a local gun show for $950 - with a dozen no-name 20 rd mags and 450 rds of GECO. I figure the gun ended up being ~ $500 or so. Decent deals are out there...

Talk to Roger (6 Ring), he likely has a carbine that will meet your needs.

I've bought several carbines from him and was very pleased with the carbines and how he handled the transactions.

Whenever I have a carbine questions, I ask Roger. He is generous in sharing his expertise.
