If you're in south central PA and would like to attend a As-Issued M1 Garand Match, here is a good place to start the spring season
http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/match...i?matchID=7911 The Yorkriflemen is a nice club with good people running the place. This match would be an excellent opportunity for a new shooter to obtain help, 200 yard zero, learn pit procedure, or practice for Camp Perry. This is a 200 yard range with pits. Turf grass firing points, covered pits to keep sun off, and the target carriers work smooth and easy. This will be a sanctioned match with CMP achievement pins. M2 Ball will be issued to competitors for use at the match. For first hand information, see the club website: http://www.yorkriflemen.org/Teams/YK...gh%20Power.pdf After the Garand Match there is a NRA 200yd reduced highpower match. You could stick around and shoot a NRA match with your Garand or bring your AR15 for the NRA match. Scores are submitted to the NRA for for classification. It's not very often that you can get in two matches for one travel expense. Last edited by X Hunter; 03-13-2012 at 04:36 PM. Reason: updated for 2012 |

You know what? I agree, this would be a great place to start the 2011 season...but I am biased.

It was a perfect day, cool with some overcast. The range was at capacity. The targets and pits were great. Guys got to experience firing a match at 200 yards with pits with four relays. Plenty of medals given out; the marksmen were on their game and there were many new guys. It was obvious your club and you put much effort into making everything as close to what could be expected at Perry as possible. As always, I liked helping out by serving as pit officer. See you on the line Saturday.
Congratulations on a well run match. ![]() Last edited by X Hunter; 04-11-2011 at 05:18 PM. |

I may have to check this out. I'm by no means a competitive shooter but I certainly do like to shoot my Garand

Looks like a fun event, but I'll either be out at New Holland that weekend, or going back down to Quantico for the Atlantic Fleet and All Navy match.
