Default Remington 40XB

I recently told a story on myself of having two Winchester 52's in my safe for 7 years without ever sending a round downrange with either. Well, full truth be known...I also have a Remington 40 XB that I've had for 6 years that I have also never fired. I was happy with shooting the 52's, so I decided to get my 40XB ready for action also.

I have a B&L 36X scope which was not being used and bought the mounting hardware.

I don't have any range report yet, but here is the rifle...

The thing that got me off the dime was joining a small bore match.

Are there any matches nearby for you?

The metal is in great shape and the stock is solid, but pretty beat up (it's a former US property rifle, afterall), but I have a replacement in much better shape...

Nice looking stock, that should significantly increase the "curb appeal" of your 40XB on the bench at the range.

Best Regards,

.

Thanks, JWA.

I pulled the bolt out of the rifle and noticed it has the serial number EP'd on the body. Glad I got the right one.

My Rem 40X USMC rifle is my all time favorite gun period. I shoot it more than anything else. It fits me perfectly and I like the weight of it more than my heavy barreled 40X. The HB is a great bench gun to me. I like it more than my WRA 52s or Kimber 82G etc..

I shot my 40XB this morning at 100 yards. The winds were a little gusty, so the groups were not that great, but I am encouraged.

Finally took my 40X back to the range. I've been shooting my Winchester 52's in a small bore match. After the match I tried some Eley Tennex @ 100 yards with the 40X...

I am astounded that members here can have a 52B or 40X in their safe for years without ever shooting them. I do not have that much will power.
