Default Round versus Square Proof

I have a stock that went thru the San Antonio Arsenal (CSSA) and it has both a P with a square around it on the bottom or the hand area and then another P further up on the hand area with a circle... Only one Arsenal Stamp... Are they both proof marks and do they mean anything different? Thanks so much!

The P with the circle around it was the original proof stamp when the rifle was first assembled and test fired. The P with a square was when the rifle was proof fired after rebuild.

Just to expound a little. Each depot had their own way of marking stocks that went through rebuilds. The P in a square are proof marks used by only two of them. San Antonino Arsenal and the Red River Arsenal.

San Antonio put the proof on the heel of the grip while Red River put the proof on the grip.
