Default Check Mate

I just received a UPS tracking number from Check Mate.

Ordered 1/28/13

Request for certification of eligibility to receive magazines in my state, 1/30/13

Responded 2/1/13

Tracking # generated 2/27/13

I hope this information helps some of you fellows out. Things do seem to be moving at Check Mate.

Called Monday. I'm literally two towns over from Wyandanch and wondered what happened. Ordered mid January... Got an "Oops!". They forgot to process my order. Glad I'm called given we only have 15 more days here in NY that we can buy 10 rounders. Went out in the mail on Monday.

Someone asked me to test the checkmates... Since I had no experience with them it was something that interested me. I took one of their 20 round mags (pre 2005 by the stampings) and did the old style USGI tests including leaving it out in the weather for 7 days, through teens to 60 degree temps, rain, buried in Snow and mud (sorry I can't do sand anymore). Beat the heck out it and then test fired it (rifle had to come down anyway)... after I simply took some clean water and poured it into the top of the mag and turned it over to empty out.

Performed nicely. I actually like them better than USGI mags and I've been using the USGI mags since day 1. I was wary because of am aware of their history starting back when they first got the contract to build .45 mags. I'm impressed with the evolution of what they produce now. Here's a few of the pictures of weeks of abuse. Held up nicely:

4R,

I'd give them a call. Did you fax your statement regarding your eligibility to receive magazines in your state?

I am aware Art.

However they were once the USGI supplier for 45 mags and Springfield Arsenal had to send a team up to find out what was wrong with the first generation Checkmate 45 mags. The problem persisted into the 2nd run before it was corrected. That's why I tested it out of curiosity since I am used to "Classic" original USGI mags I've had for decades.

So you see, being USGI supplier is not always "A good one".

And the myth about the TRW production is still a myth. They had problems just like everyone else.
