Northern NY

Just wondering if there is any one else on here from northern NY, and by northern NY i mean north of I-90.

I'm North of I-90. Bout 25 min north of Exit 48 Batavia.

nice to see there are other upstate NYer's on here. most people i meet look at me like i got 3 heads when i tell them i picked up a Garand.

I've actually shot at a match with a guy on the forums that lives about an hour from me. bullseye1x

Yer actually not to far from the last place I shot a M1/Springfield/Vintage match at Camillus Sportsmans club. Very nice place to shoot and there are actual pits to work when yer not shooting or scoring. I will go to at least one of the matches this year. They run 3 CMP matches as well as some NRA Highpower matches.

They do NRA High Power too like I said but thats an 80 round course. The CMP course of fire they do is only 35 rounds so its a bit cheaper to shoot. I will post again when I know for sure which ones I am going too. The August one for sure, cant do July, gone on vaca and maybe the May one.

in reference to May 27th what is a AR15 / M1 Clinic and what are the requirements to be eligible to shoot in the 200yd match.

I am pretty sure you need to be a member of a CMP affiliated club. Cheapest way is via the Garand Collectors Association for $25 a year and you get a beautiful color magazine 4-6 times a year. If you already have a CMP Garand then yer all set because you must already belong to a CMP affiliate.

Now, about the clinic, here is what is on their flyer.

Learn the AR15 and M1 Rifle !
Open to Adults and Juniors 12 and older who can safely handle a rifle.
You will be paired with an experienced high power shooter who will instruct
you in standing off-hand fire, sitting rapid fire, and prone rapid fire. Learn
trigger discipline, proper sight picture, and basic rifle operation.
You will experience the thrill of high power rifle shooting as a sport and skill.

Juniors are to be accompanied by an adult participating in the clinic. Rifles and ammunition will be provided. If you have an AR15 or M1 you may use it with instructor approval. Lunches are available after class.
