Default M1C Rifle & M84 Scope

I have a CMP M1C rifle , a Griffin and Howe mount and a M84 scope.
When the scope is adjusted to permit clip ejection, is impossible to use the rubber eye piece.
I have seen pictures of M1C/M84 combos with rubber eye installed.
I wonder if the M84 scope was ever intended to be used on the M1C.

One additional issue, the scope moves when firing the rifle.
Anyone here shoot a M1C/M84 combo??/
Thanks,
Jim C

I could be wrong but I read that the Government purchased a lot of Alaskan Lymon scopes for the M1C during the Korean war

Quote taken from this article. https://www.americanrifleman.org/con...-sniper-rifle/

"The M84 did not fit the M1C mount very well because of interference with the rubber eyepiece which often resulted in removal of the eyepiece."

TW56,
Thanks, very interesting. Considering that the M1C was standard issue, I wonder why the Army would adopt the M84.?
The barrel on my rifle is HRA 8-51. I wonder if it replaced a WW2 barrel or if it was assembled on a unused receiver??
