Interesting thing you don't often see, plus... there is no special paperwork needed to own it.

I remember hearing about Carlos Hathcock using a 50 spotter off one of our 105 RR to take out a bad guy at over 2k Yds. Adapt and overcome.

Art, I believe he actually used an M2 with a Unertl scope mounted on the M2.

Stories tend to change over time. At least it was apparently a 50 cal. That was the point. Used as a sniper tool he managed the almost impossible feat.

Art, I agree - stories do change with time. However, if you think about it, I bet you can come up with half a dozen reasons why using an M2 makes much more sense. Not the least of which is that use of M2’s with Unertl scopes by Marine snipers in VN is well documented.

Hathcock use a M2 and Unertal. M8C has no sights it was bore sighted on a 106MM recoiless rifle and used a lower velocity round that was not intended for penetration. It was a marking round ballistically matched to the 106MM round.
