Thank you for the positive comments. J.B., this is the one with the blue staining under the wood. Does anyone know if DOD would have sold it with the scope and rings? I will post photos of the lens caps later. Not sure if they are military issue.

That was what I was asking in my earlier question. I didn't see anything on the DoD form that indicated whether optics were included.

When I bought one of the 03-A4's from the CMP in 1999, they were being sold without scope and rings. Some had the base and others did not. Discussion on the forum at the time was that prior DCM 03-A4 sales had not included optics. I don't know whether or not that was accurate.

I have a rifle identical to the OP’s. Mine has some additional paperwork though, and within that paperwork it states they were being sold without scopes- “Ship less scope and mounting rings.” Mine was sold for the same price and at about the same time as the OP’s rifle.

Thank you. I bought a late serial A4 on the forum a few years ago that is actually nicer. I am lucky to have gotten both. This one was a great price.
