Photos of my rack grade 1911A1. I'm very happy with what I received.

I recieved my rack grade Remington Rand today. Serial number 1599485 with a type 3 slide. It has no arsenal stamps and looks like it has been together forever. It has a High Standard barrel and what appears to be an Ithaca hammer. It does not appear to me to be refinished. I was hoping for a Colt because I already own a Rand but am completely satisfied with this one.

Default Rack Grade - Remington Rand Frame, GI Replacement Slide

Remington Rand frame made sometime in 1945. Inspected by FJA in 68, and went to the Anniston Army Depot (ANAD) in Oct 76 where it probably got the GI replacement slide, which I now understand, thanks to dmza29, was manufactured by IMI. I sent in a FOIA request but it may be a while before I hear anything. I'm pretty pleased with this Rack Grade M1911A1.

The frame is Remington Rand made in '44. The slide is Colt - no idea when this slide was made, or what to look for to determine it's date of manufacture. Slide finish has "spots" and worn off finish on top of slide. Slide seems a lot newer than frame - "GOVERNMENT MODEL" rollmark. I can see why you guys want to have matching frame & slide.

Default My Thanksgiving Prize

By request here are pics of my M1911A1 rack grade pistol. It is a 1943 Remington Rand frame with a Colt slide. I went back to the grading description to try to figure out why this is considered a rack grade. There is no rust or pitting, the finish the same all over with no wear or even scratches, the slide is tight with no rattles, grips are great, looks like a new barrel and magazine and was even lightly oiled. I would have been completely happy if I purchased this as a service grade.

Insert witty remark here.
