Default M1A Scout Squad

Hey everyone,

I'm blowing up the forums today. I searched the forums and couldn't find any clear answers on this subject. Perhaps I didn't look hard enough...

Does the shorter barrel disqualify the M1A Scout Squad under High Power rule 4.1.3.c or Games rule 5.2.4?

I've got a standard, but I've heard the barrels are just a little better on the scout squad (even though you're sacrificing sight radius by a couple inches).

Thanks,

Brian

Brian, I am not sure about the rules but the Scout has got 4" less sight radius and doesn't have a NM barrel profile. It isn't a good choice for a precision competitive rifle. Rick

For the CMP Games Match, (that would be Modern Military or Unlimited Modern Military), your standard M1A is legal (assuming it passes the weight rules) and completely appropriate. You can even use a scope in unlimited MM. I don't see using a scout M1A in EIC or any service rifle (NRA or CMP) competition. As to whether a "scout" might be legal in any of the matches, I will pass on that question. You can query CMP Competitions if you are that interested, but get it in writing..... Good Shooting. ....

Thank you very much for the helpful responses. I've got a scout in the safe, and I wasn't sure if it'd make a good alternate in case the standard got pushed to unlimited for weight (bone stock, haven't weighed it yet).

For anyone interested:

I received a response from the rules team. They informed me that shorter barreled M1As do not fall under the authorized rifle rules for Modern Military or Service Rifle, and are not allowed.

Take care everyone,

Brian
