I've been to this range a few times. It is run by a couple from their house. The 400 yard range was designed for shooters to fire off a bench. Position shooting is difficult to get any meaningful practice from, as its downhill. While the range is only 15 miles away, it is more practical and cost effective for me to drive 125 miles to Quantico, or 56 miles to Cumberland, MD. I don't recommend this range for highpower shooters.

Just a note concerning shooting aboard MCB Quantico with the Quantico Shooting Club (QSC)...

Since this is not a sanctioned match, the event is only open to QSC members and guests of members, these events are not open to the general public. Additionally, guests may not bring their own firearms aboard MCB Quantico unless they have filled out a "QSC Qualification to Posses Firearms and Ammunition" form (see QSC website) and is on file a minimum of 5 days before the event.

I never knew this was here, I live 5 files from this range...

Sadly thought I am not Active Duty, or a DOD Employee ( I am a Contractor)
so this really rules me out for becoming a member. and there not accepting associate member at this time.

In Fauquier county south of manassas on 28 there is a range (only 100 yards)
called Range 82 but it's still 1/2 hour drive from Independent Hill.

I really hate indoor ranges like Blue Ridge and Sharp shooters for rifles but thats all we really have here in Northern VA....

I just renewed my civilian membership with Quantico Shooting Club but I am NOT certain if the 'associate' membership is full. I suspect NOT but....it sure would not hurt to call or email them: http://www.quanticoshootingclub.com/index.php
