Default Camp Perry Barracks

Hey everyone,
Iím finally getting to go to the national matches this year with my father-in-law. I was wondering if anyone has experience staying in the barracks there and what itís like. We were both in the army and open bay barracks are fine with us, but he was wondering if there was air conditioning or anything like that. Does anyone have any experience staying there and if so, do you suggest it or should we stay at a hotel off post? Thanks!

Bring ear plugs. The PM match guys come in late at night and bang around. The AM guys get up early and bang around. There is air conditioning now. Try and get a hut if you can. But we stayed in the barracks from 2008 till 2017 and loved it. We now travel with our Jr's and the huts are our home for that week.

I have stayed in the barracks twice. Clean, comfortable temperature. Bring ear plugs. Very affordable.

But consider the Covid risk. If I were doing the national matches this year, I would do hotel this year. Even if you aren't worried about covid, I would not count on the barracks being open if we were to have a surge, and that might make it hard to find a hotel at late notice.

The barracks are OK, but as already noted they are not the quietest. If they are actually open during this Covid mess, make sure you bring a lock as each bed has a locker.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. We ended up getting a motel in Port Clinton to be a little more comfortable since this will be our first time there. Camp Perry said that the barracks are available for $17 a night. We're both vaccinated so the covid thing isn't a big deal to us. Hope to see some of you guys there, I'll be the idiot without any competition gear struggling to load 2 rounds in an enbloc!

Iíve been staying in the barracks for about three years now, and have reserved again this summer. It is always been a good experience. Totally not worried about COVID-19. It seems youíve already made up your mind, and thatís fine. Donít be afraid of trying them out next year. At 16 bucks in change the night, how can you go wrong?
