What's this Stock Front End For?? PICs

About 17 long has a small Y on back end, has a pot belly look like a M2 Carbine and a shape of a M2 22cal Springfield stock. Thanks for any help.

I had to use the coil spring hammer from a Winchester Winder Musket action in a very heavy bench rest Hi Wall as my barrel was too large in diameter for the flat spring

Interesting that the early Winchester coil spring hammer is like the AR-15 and AK47 hammer springs
