Default 1911 mags

Back a few years ago the CMP estore was selling these in lots of 10 for a very good price. I purchased a few lots myself. Now the CMP has 2 on their auction site. Why are just 2 mags getting $30+ each today? Is there something special about them or are the folks bidding foolish or don't know any better?

I’m wondering the same thing. Were the auction magazines from a different supplier that produced only a few of them?

The key word is the CMP “used” to sell them for cheap. And it’s a CMP auction!! Remember the Greek toothbrush’s!!

The mags I got from the CMP are identical to ones on the auction site. And they came in a wrapper.

Heck, I am sitting on 30 right now. I wanted 10 for each of 1911's. LOL

This is why you can't use CMP auction prices as a guide to values. The CMP auction realizes prices that are multiples of what the same item sells for elsewhere. For example:

CMP e-store and CMP Auction are two different worlds. For some reason CMP Auction attracts high rollers who get into bidding wars and drive prices into the stratosphere.
