Default Rebuilt 1911A1 storage boxes

I seem to remember seeing pictures of rebuilt 1911A1s in plain brown kraft boxes with no manufacturers information printed on them but with the serial number on the bottom in black grease pencil. Can anyone advise if this recollection is correct? Thanks

This picture appeared in American Rifleman in the article about the CMP 1911 program and the CMP receiving shipment of 1911s from the Army.

Those aren't Kraft boxes, just some sort of storage box the Army used. Kraft boxes as they relate to wartime pistol shipments are two piece and look similar to this reproduction example:

It's a shame CMP didn't ship them back out in those boxes. They'll be worth far more than the plastic cases they used.

I guess some had them, some didn't - but I would like to have had mine shipped with it

Assumed they destroyed all of them? And now it would be a pain to look through a couple thousand (maybe 6-7 thousand) for specific ones - as I am sure they were serial numbered and marked as they were checked over the years.

If just blank like some have said, and the exterior boxes were marked, that makes a difference....

I purchased an auction pistol. It was delivered in a well made plastic container. However, the cardboard box was inside along with the plastic storage bag that the gun had been stored in. Both the box and bag were tagged with the serial number, date of storage and some other data. The cardboard box was definitely not from the original manufacturer, but was utilized by the military.

This has been beat to death here:

Besides now-a-days is it not a legal requirement to ship pistols in a lockable container with safety device.... ???
